to predictions -- i think this will come up in the debate. not because mitt romney will bring it up, but because he will be asked about it by one of the moderators. but the romney campaign has shown no signs of pulling back on this. i got a mail -- i live in virginia -- i got a mail at my house for my daughter, who registered to vote a week ago. it repeated all the lines in the welfare at. i think the romney campaign has found a message that it once to -- wants to keep hitting. i think that will come up in the debate. we will hear from obama. initially, we saw this in the polls, this has resonated, their traditional scare seniors about medicare tactics. that has been working really well. so i think obama will bring that up. one thing we will hear is the phrase that romney would end medicare's guarantee, which is a phrase the democrats have liked to use recently. we have raided that half-true for two reasons. one, it is not like it really has a guarantee now. congress can change the medicare benefits any time it wants to. it frequently has. now, romney would change the structure in which people w

's not good at that. he's great at giving big speeches but i think romney can do very well over three debates. >> he's got -- you know, the president has, i think, kind of a contempt for sound bites. >> that's a great way to put it. >> what i would say back to that is "mr. gorbachev," tear down this wall is a sound bite. sometimes big ideas have to be torn down into sound bites. >> we have not. jfk in his inaugural speech. sound bites. >> that's just another way of saying clarity of thought. i think we're still in a place where if president obama had to build his library in the next, you know, x number of years, what would you -- is there a short phrase you could put on the wall? lots of paragraphs, and that's right. but there's also, you know, something to be said for a pithy way of talking. >> and the problem is there is a statement they put on the wall, but they change it every day. >> yeah. >> they're responding to barack obama's mistakes instead of saying it's economy stupid or are you better off than you were four years ago, even if they had borrowed from reagan anded with that every da

. the romney campaign does need to turn around. he does need the debates to go well. is there time? yes. 41 days you can turn the ship around. but he will need to articulate it pretty well. the funny part about it is the president's own deficit and debt commission recommended something similar on tax reform, bringing down all the tax rates, expanding the base and eliminating tax credits and tax loopholes. dagen: ronald reagan, he did it. and then congress messed it up. bret, it was great to talk to you as always. thank you very much. please everybody -- well i know you all watch bret at 6:00 p.m. eastern on the fox news channel every night. if you don't, well, there you have it. you know what you will see tonight and every night. thanks bret. >> thanks. connell: hillary clinton, with some comments with higher taxes on rich people around the world, not just here, everywhere. we will talk to the judge andrew napolitano and get his thoughts on that. dagen: do you want to take a look at the treasury markets too? connell: i guess. dagen: we did a whole segment on treasury yields. here you go. co

at a time where there's a debate about ongoing health care in this country. mitt romney in a "60 minutes" interview was asked, going to an emergency room is an option for the uninsured. listen to that clip quickly. >> does the government have a responsibility to provide health care to the 50 million american whose don't have it today? >> well, we do provide care for people who don't have insurance. people -- if someone has a heart attack, they don't sit in their apartment and die. we pick them up in an ambulance and take them to the hospital, and give them care. and different states have different ways of providing for that care. >> for those people you were profiling there are in your film, was that their only option, that particular waiting room in that particular hospital and that level of care? >> for the vast majority of the community, it's the only place they know where to go. the safety net system, the last resorts in oakland and all over the country. there are a patchwork of clinics you can go to but for the most part, highland has the ability to the deal with factors like langua
